The Portrayal of Cyborg Character In J.P Delaney\'s Novel, The Perfect Wife

This study aims to analyze the depiction of cyborg characters made to
replace human roles in JP Delaney\'s novel The Perfect Wife and also explain how
the relationship between humans and cyborgs in this novel. The writer use the
theory of cyborgism from Donna Haraway, this study focuses on three variables
of cyborg that can analyze a cyborg character and two factors that can explain the
relationship between the human and cyborg characters in the story.
Methods of data collection use a qualitative approach of character’s
utterance and narrator’s narration. The last thing to do is find a correlation
between data and theory to answer research questions. The technique of reading
repeatedly in detail is used to obtain more accurate information from the story in
the novel.
The results of this study reveal that in JP Delaney\'s novel, The Perfect
Wife, the cyborg character created by a human has a great potential to replace the
role of a human being physically, intellectually and abilities, and the relationship
that occurs between cyborgs and humans can have positive and consequences for
human life.
