This study is intended to explain about types of sequence and structure in conversation and what types of sequence and structure that frequently occurs in conversation by Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, Tom, and Nick Caraway. Focusing on these subjects, this study focuses on the analysis of the utterances of Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, Tom, and Nick Caraway which is related to Sequence and Structure in conversation theory, especially Sequence and Structure in conversation is used at the basic theory to analyze the types of Sequence and Structure in conversation in The Great Gatsby movie.

Furthermore, this study is conducted using the qualitative research, because the data in the form of sentence. The data of this study is the utterances of Nick carraway and Tom also Jay Gatsby, and Daisy Buchanan The data of this study are collected by using content analysis method.

From the data analysis, it shows sequence and structure 1) The types of sequence and structure in conversation on data are opening conversation (4 data), closing conversation (13 data), turn taking (11 data), adjacency pairs (3 data), 13 data of closing conversation.
