An Analysis of Overlapping in DIVE Studios Podcast.rnThe purpose of this study was to determine the types and reasons for overlapping that occurred in the three podcast participants, namely Ashley Choi, BM, and Peniel. This study uses the theory from Jefferson (1984) to analyze the types of overlapping. Meanwhile, the reasons for overlapping use Liddicoat's theory (2007).rnThe data collection method uses qualitative audio and visual materials. The data used are utterances in the video podcast entitled “Impossible Beauty Standards with Ashley Choi, BM (KARD), Peniel (BTOB) I GET REAL Ep. 7” on August 15, 2020. The data analysis method uses Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014) with three analysis processes, namely data condensation, data display, and drawing a conclusion.rnThe results showed that there were 119 data findings containing the types and reasons for overlapping. This research found nine sub-types of conversation on the podcast which are terminal overlap, latched to possible completion onset, unmarked next position onset, pre-terminal 'gearing up' (inbreaths), recognitional terminal overlap, pre-completor onset, item-targeted onset, thrust projective onset, and mid-utterance 'stuttering'. Meanwhile, the reasons for overlapping in this study show that the overlapping that occurs contains all the reasons for overlapping based on the theory used, they are disagreement rejection, enthusiasm, showing understanding, and modifying the rhythm of talk.
