A STUDY OF SPEECH DISORDER ON LORENZO ODONE IN THE LORENZO’S OIL MOVIE

This study focuses on analyzing speech disorderas a result of a diseaseadrenoleukodystrophy ALD in movie of Lorenzo’s Oil.Lorenzo Odone experiences a rare disease that is adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) which attacks the brain, so that he became paralyzed and could not move his tongue, so there are some foneme that cannot be pronounced perfectly, therefore is very interesting to study the language spoken by Lorenzo as pasientadrenoleukodystropy (ALD).
This research uses descriptive-qualitative research design. Descriptive-qualitative research design used because this study only analyzes, and describes what is found in the source of data related to the research problem produced by Lorenzo.
The researcher found 11 data of phoneme errors made by Lorenzo Odone and 10 data of speech disorder experienced by Lorenzo Odone in The Lorenzo’s Oil movie. Lorenzo’s tonguebecome paralysisbecause of disease ALD, so that he suffered speech disorders, especially in producing the alveolar consonants. Alveolar consonants were articulated by Lorenzo Odone with the tip of the tongue. The alveolar consonants which are produced disorderly are / l /, / r /, / ð /, / n /, / t /. The researcher found 10 data belongs to Kind of speech disorder that are 3 data on articulation disorder and 6 data on speaking disorder and cause by Lorenzo Odone in the Lorenzo’s Oil movie.
