A Study of Conversational Implicature in Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie

The aims of the study are to discuss the types of conversational implicature in Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie and the features that affect the utterance or conversation which turn out to be conversational implicature.
The theory by Grice mostly proposed used in this study about implicatures. This analysis was carried out by using qualitative research recomended by Moleong (2005). The data of this analysis were collected from Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. To analysis the data, the researcher applied the theory of data analysis based on Miles and Huberman (1994).
The data are classified into two types of conversational implicature, generalized conversational implicature and particularized conversational implicature. Furthermore, there are five features of conversational implicature, cancellable, non-detachable, non-conventional, calculable, and indeterminate. The result of this study shows different result of the previous study. The researcher finds all of the types and features of conversational implicature.
