Abstract

Abstrak:Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan makna semiotik (representatif, objek, intrepetan) penggunakan emoticon dalam grub WhatsApp Mahasiwa Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (PBSI) Angkatan 2015 Kelas B, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura. Penetian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Populasi penelian ini adalah penggunaan emoticon sebagai media berkomunikai dalam grub 15-B mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura, pada bulan maret 2019. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simak, teknik catat dan teknik dokumentasi. Sampel peneliti sebanyak 104 data. Data dikumpulkan dari tangkap layar, terdapat 76 dari 104 data yang didapati menggunakan emoticon. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1) perbedaan pemaknaan anatar intepretan dan objek, tetapi komunikasi berjalan dengan baik. 2) Mengekspresikan diri. 3) Mengetahui kepribadian pengguna. 3) terjadinya kegagalan penggunaan emoticon.
