Abstract
Abstrak
Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk membahas jenis strategi penolakan di film The Help, untuk mengetahui jenis strategi penolakan yang sering muncul dalam film ini. penelitian ini menggunakan teori Brown dan Levinson (1987).
Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan penulis merupakan instrumen utama dalam pengumpulan data. Sumber data adalah Script di film The Help. Data dalam skripsi adalah ucapan yang diucapkan oleh karakter dalam film The Help. Data ini diklasifikasikan ke dalam kode sampai mendapatkan hasilnya.
Setelah menganalisis film, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada 28 data yang berisi strategi penolakan dalam film The Help. 14 Data mengandung kesantunan negatif, 5 Data berisi kesopanan positif, dan 9 Data mengandung off-record. Jenis tindakan penolokan yang sering muncul adalah strategi kesantunan negatif.
