AN ANALYSIS OF MOOD AND MODALITY IN TRAVEL BLOG CALLED JOURNEYERA.COM

This study is analysing MOOD Systems and Modality in the travel blog called Journeyera.com entitled 15 Awesome Things to Do in East Java, Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to find the interpersonal meaning of the travel blog based on the most dominant use of the MOOD type and the value of modality. The method of this study is descriptive qualitative. The data analysis of this study used a theory from Creswell about descriptive data analysis technique. The source data of this study was taken from an online travel blog called Journeyera.com. The writer only used one article entitled 15 Awesome Things to Do in East Java, Indonesia. The data of this study are the clauses of the travel blog, precisely the clause that indicates the MOOD System and its Modality. The results of this study show that the travel blog is using all types of MOOD Systems in the 128 data clauses in the travel blog. First, the writer found that 100 clauses are categorized Declarative MOOD, which is the most dominant use of MOOD type. At the same time, the most dominant use of Modal value in the travel blog is the Median modal value with a total data of 26. Besides that, this study also shows the interpersonal meaning of the travel blog based on the dominant use of the MOOD System and The Value of Modality.
