The aims of this study are to identified the ideal transnationalism which portrayed in Paolo Bacigalup’s The Windup Girl and challenges of immigrant face daily life in the novel. The writer applied the theory of Transnationalism by Janine Dahinden perspective to analyzed the ideal transnationalism in the novel.
This study applied qualitative research because the writer interpreted the novel in order to answer the research questions. The data are the narrator’s narration and characters’ utterances in the novel which are taken through scanning and skimming reading technique. The data analysis was done by classifying the narrations and utterances into the types of ideal transnationalism, discussing the findings, and concluding.
The results of this study revealed that there are two types of ideal transnationalism in the novel are represented by the immigrant characters, which are; localised diasporic transnational formation and transnational outsider. The immigrants do anything as work being sex slaver to made them saved.
