AN ANALYSIS OF ASSOCIATIVE MEANING ON EMINEM'S SONG LYRICS

Pd This study focuses on analyzing associative meaning in Eminem’s song lyrics. The author choose 3 song lyrics by Eminem’s: Cleanin’ Out My Closet, Just Don’t Give A Fuck, and My Daddy Gone Crazy. This study aims to find out types of associative meaning and what are the functions of associative meaning are. The author selects Eminem’s song lyrics for two reason. The first the difficult living conditions, both in terms of economy, prostitute, social and their obsession with their daily life is into to work. The writer uses a descriptive qualitative method in this research. The Eminem’s song lyrics are collected and put into the table. After that, the Goeffrey Leech’s semantic theory is used to identify the types and function of associative meaning. The result of this study showed that there are type of associative meanings and its functions. In this study findings based the in facts founds 43 data in the data based on Leech’s theory. The data writer employed in this research were taken from Eminem song lyrics, the researcher founds a types associative meanings: social meaning (37 data), connotative meaning (7 data), collocative meaning (3 data), reflected meaning (1 data) and function of associative meaning which are found in the 3 lyrics of Eminem’s song lyrics collected by the writer.
