Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas jenis-jenis kohesi gramatikal dan kontribusinya dalam teks yang ada dalam artikel berita yang diterbitkan oleh The Jakarta Post. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dari artikel berita The Jakarta Post. Penulis memilih empat artikel berita untuk kemudian dianalisis jenis dan kontribusi kohesi gramatikal dalam artikel berita tersebut. Data dikumpulkan dari budaya dengan topik tentang hiburan. Studi ini menunjukkan semua jenis kohesi gramatikal berdasarkan teori Halliday dan Hasan (1976). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan jenis dan kontribusi kohesi gramatikal dalam artikel berita: Referensi (40%), elipsis 1 (2%), substitusi 3 (6%), dan konjungsi 29 (58%). Kontribusi kohesi gramatikal adalah mengurangi pengulangan kata, menghilangkan beberapa komponen kalimat, mengganti satu hal atau kata dengan yang lain, dan menunjukkan hubungan. Dengan demikian, kohesi gramatikal dan kontribusinya membuat gagasan dalam teks lebih terstruktur.
