A STUDY OF REGISTERS IN SKATEBOARD COMMUNITY IN TAMAN BUNGKUL SURABAYA

This study is focused on the registers of the skaters of Taman Bungkul skateboard community. This study is conducted to identify the kinds of registers that used by the skateboard community of Taman Bungkul Surabaya, to investigate the function of registers which appeared the most in skate Community of Taman Bungkul Surabaya.
This study uses descriptive qualitative design. The source of data is the the dialogues among the skaters which have been recorded before, while the data are the utterances of the skaters which mentioned the word ‘dude’ in the movie. The technique used in collecting the data in this study is observation. The interactive model analysis is the technique of analyzing data in this study.
The results of this study are: (1) Based on 21 data, there are 14 data which refer to Familiar Register, 6 data which refer to Informal Register, 1 data which refers to Formal Register and 0 data which refer to Ceremonial Register. (2) The function which used the most is Personal Function.
