This study focuses on the antonymous words that are found in Kak Zepe’s English Children Songs Lyrics. This study aims to explain the types of antonymous words which are taken from the Kak Zepe’s English Children Songs Lyrics. It also aims to explain why the data become antonymous.
In addition to analyze the data, this study uses many theories. Some of them are Saeed (2009) and Jones (2002). Moreover, this study is conducted by using a qualitative research because the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are the antonymous words which are taken from Kak Zepe’s English Children Songs Lyrics . The method of collecting data in this study is observation method through note taking technique and to analyze the data, the writer uses interactive data analysis.
In the findings, the writer finds 21 data. The writer finds five types of antonymy, 7 data are included into Gradable antonyms, 7 data are included into Taxonomic Sisters, 4 data are included into Complementary Antonyms, and 1 data is included into Relational Antonyms. The writer also finds eight of functions that make the words to become antonymous. Those are Ancilary Antonymy (5 data), Coordinated Antonyms (16 data), and six of function not data
