Abstract
One of aquaculture products that are in demand in the market is the mud crab (Scylla serrata) in the form of soft-shelled crab (soft cell crab) or with soft shell mud crab Moulting is the release of the old shell and formed a new shell. Factors - environmental factors that affect the rate of growth and rate of mud crab molting is external and internal factors. External factors such as feed, season, and water quality. Internal factors such as the size of the crabs, completeness limbs and genetic variation (offspring). This study discusses the influence of season on the growth rate and the speed of mud crab moulting so as to know the rate of growth and moulting of the best speed for each treatment. The study was carried out from February to May 2014, the sampling site is done in traditional farms that utilize tidal ponds to supply water to the village and held at Edge Papas, District Kalianget, Sumenep, East Java. The test sample consisted of a mud crab the size range of 50-80 g, 80.1 -110 g, 110.1 to 140 g by 5 tails or 5 replicates for each size range in the dry season and the rainy musing. The data captured includes the relative growth rate, moulting rate, survival rate, width and carapace length for each season. Data were analyzed using a factorial experiment with the basic design randomized complete block design. Results obtained the best growth rate is the size of the weight from 110.1 to 140 g in the rainy season and size 80.1 -110 g in the dry season and moulting best speed on the size of the weights is 110.1 - 140 g for the wet season and dry season.
