Identifying The Specialty of Margaret Dilloway's Writing in How to Be an American Housewife. (A Study of Gynocriticism)

Gender issue which happened in daily life toward women and men is also happened in literature world, where male writer dominate female writer in the past. By the time feminist movement decrease it and makes female writer be able to compete with male writer at this time. Both of them have different characteristic in their work. This study is aimed to identify the specialty of women writing in the novel How to Be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway as female writer. The analysis of this study is to seek the difference way of female writer through their work related to the three currents model of gynocriticsim. Moreover, this study also analyzes women portrayal created by Margaret Dilloway through Shoko and Suiko character.
The method of this study is descriptive qualitative which focused on the data collected in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. The data of this study used the novel entitled How to Be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway to find the specialty of female writer toward women work.
The results of this study are the usage of language by Margaret Dilloway, the author psychological condition toward her writing and women’s culture that created in the story of How to Be an American Housewife. Moreover this study analyzes women characters that are portrayed by Margaret Dilloway as independent and strong women.
