A CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF ZILVIA ISKANDAR’S DIALOGUE WITH ROCKY GERUNG

Advisor: Prof. Dr. Masduki, M.Pd.rnThis study aims to interpret and explain the vocabulary used in the dialogue between Zilvia Iskandar and Rocky Gerung in the video podcast: Kritik Presiden tak Perlu Santun. This study is related to how the president is often criticized insulted with inappropriate behavior by the Indonesian people themselves using harsh words. The writer explores the dialogue between Zilvia Iskandar and Rocky Gerung using Fairclough's three-dimensional critical discourse analysis framework (1989; 1992; 2003).rnThe method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The data source for this study is the selected YouTube video podcast, and the data is the dialogue in the video. The main instrument of this study is the writer himself. In addition, for data collection and data analysis in this study, the writer uses the theory by Miles, M. B., Huberman, A. M., & Saldaña, J. (2014).rnThe results of this study indicate that the dialogues from the podcast criticism of the president do not need to be polite use selected vocabulary, active voice, passive voice, lexical cohesion, and pronouns to explain the case of alleged spread of fake news in detail to present how political ethics should be in criticizing the Indonesian government, especially the President.
