A Study of parenteese in the little big shot talk show episode micro mayor James

ABSTRACT
The researcher investigates parentese in little big shot talk show episode micro mayor James using a psycholinguistic approach. This research has two objectives: (1) to reveal the characteristics of parentese used in little big shot talk show episode micro mayor James based on Steinberg (2006) theory; and (2) to describe the functions of the use of parentese in little big shot talk show based on Clark and Clark (1977) theory. This research employed qualitative method.
The data of this study are the utterances contain parentese in little big shot talk show. In findings, The writer found four characteristics of parentese which based on non-prosodic aspects: immediacy and concreteness (4), grammaticality of input (4), short utterances and simple structure (3), and simple and short vocabulary (5). The writer also found three functions of parentese. Those are: develop more vocabulary (6), learn grammar naturally (7), and understand conversation routines (1). Learn abstract concepts easier are not found in this source of data.
