A STUDY OF AGENTIVE NOUN IN LOW COUNTRY NOVEL BY ANNE RIVER SIDDONS

This study focuses on the agentive noun and sematic dimension of agentive noun words that are found in Low Country novel. This study aims to explain the types of agentive noun and semantic dimension of agentive noun as the data which are taken from the Low Country novel.
In addition to analyze the data, this study uses many theories. Some of them are Saeed (2009), Owoeye (2013) and Palmer (1981). Moreover, this study is conducted by using a qualitative research because the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are the agentive nouns which are taken from Low Country novel. The method of collecting data in this study is conducted by using observation method through note taking technique and analyzed by using content analysis.
In the finding, the writer finds 34 data. The data analysis is conducted based on the findings from research questions. In the findings, the writer finds two types of agentive noun with the number 30 data which are included into regular agentive noun and 4 data are included into irregular agentive noun. The writer also finds types of semantic dimension, they are animate agent (12 data), inanimate agent (0 data), professional agent (15 data), instrument agent (7 data), and partisan agent (0 data).
