speech act analysis of Navy's instructions in Teluk Ratai 509 Indonesian Warship

This study focuses on speech act analysis of Navy’s instructions in Teluk Ratai 509 Indonesian Warship. This study finds locutionary act which concerns with instructions. This study also explains the context and describes the affect for the listener when listening to the instructions.
The source of the data in this study is Navy’s crews in Teluk Ratai 509 Indonesian Warship. In addition, the data of this study is the instructions which are given by the officer to the crew in Teluk Ratai 509 Indonesian Warship. To get the data, this study uses recording method. It is used tape recorder to record the data which is in the form of conversation between officer and crew. This study is qualitative study.
The result of this study, most of instructions given by the officer to the crew in Teluk Ratai 509 IndonesianWarship tend to use directive illocutionary act to command the crew. It is because the officer as the speaker wants the crew as the listener to do what the speaker’s ask and there is no choice for the listener to choose whether the crew must not or must do what the speaker asks.
