Advisor: Prof. Dr. Suryo Tri SaksonoThis studyanalyses a novel Emma Donoghue's Room and views from a psychological perspective. The purpose of this studyis to find out about the mother love to child that is given by Ma to her son, Jack, such as giving education and giving care and aattention and theimpact to her child that happen because of motherly love. Qualitative research is conducted in this study applying content analysis method. The object of this studyis a novel entitled Room written by Emma Donoghue. The methods of data collections were reading, labeling, and marking. In order to gain reliability, the researcher read and reread the novel carefully and then recorded the data into a systematic framework based on the theory. Since this study focuses on motherly love, the writer uses a theory which is proposed by Erich Fromm to analize the data.The results of this study expose the types of motherly love that is given by mother such as giving education and giving attention, and later on those motherly love can arouse curiosity, creative, imaginative and brave child.
